The tree laying across the pond fell a year ago as another victim of the ice storm last December. It has been fascinating watching the process of nature reclaiming its own.
These were taken Locust Pond in Tyngsborough, MA.

Learning about the snow guns. Crotched Mountain has the best snow making system in New England. Tim is the man in charge of it all.
Inside of the pumphouse. I hope to go back to do a full story on snowmaking at Crotched Mountain. Tim was enthusiastic about the idea which would include a ride in the cats. Anyone who has followed my ski photos should know that riding in a cat (snow groomer) would be a dream come true.
More of the pumphouse where all the water to push through the snow guns is pumped from the two ponds throughout system along the mountain.
There are six of these pumps at Crotched Mountain with room for three more. These pumps can pump 66 million gallons of water. Crotched has the same capacity of snow making capabilities as Loon Mountain, a larger resort.
Learning about the ski lifts. Seems so strange to see them without snow.
Lunch break included a short trip to the local grocery store and while there, it started to snow!
Quite a different look already, in less than an hour.
Parting shot of the day and it is still snowing!! Hopefully we will be on skis tomorrow. I can't wait!
Opps... forgot the photo the first time.
